PRODIGAL

April 13, 2014 - We were blessed to have all met together for a few days of reminiscing and catching up. Loyd was in great spirits, and we all felt that it was a very special time. And now we know how very special it was. Loyd passed away peacefully on April 22, 2014 with his wife and children by his side.

Loydboldman3

The licensing agreement between Silver Orb Media and Retroactive Records has cleared the path for the reissue of Loyd Boldman's rare 1988 solo album 'Sleep Without Dreams'! This album was released on cassette only and was held somewhat close to the vest for years. Now, thanks to the 'Legends Remastered' series, a much larger audience can experience the complex simplicity and sobering wit of Loyd's lyrics and feel the broad emotional spectrum of his one-of-a-kind voice. I don't know what brought you guys to mind this morning but I thought I'd look you up again and feel like I've found gold. I only owned the 3rd album on vinyl and just listened to a sampling of the tracks on the Music page and it all sounds great. Congratulations - BURN IT UP sounds INCREDIBLE! And the older stuff is very appealing - excited to get a copy of all 3 and get reacquainted with PRODIGAL. Thank you and bless you. The LORD reigns - let His people rejoice!

Pulled my vinyl Electric Eye this morning to play while working from home, wondered about if on CD, searched Amazon and WOW...there it was, but sold out. Did a search and found Prodigalnow! Ordered the set! One of my all time favorite Christian Bands ever(!), as many have said. As I am listening I am sitting here crying, tears of joy and sadness...those years were rough years as a Christian youth mostly alone in the vast plains of N.D. Music was my refuge..Christian music became my only refuge after I discovered GOOD CCM in the early 80's starting with White Heart, Petra, Prodigal etc. My first concert was Petra. But my second was PRODIGAL in the great city of Dickenson on the Real Life tour. There were not many of us at the concert and I had not bought Real Life yet...couldn't sing along on the new stuff but the youth leaders sure were! The concert was amazing...I did not know who sang what and was surprised when Loyd belted out his first song..WOW. I am so thankful for all of you and for all that your music did for me during those years. So sorry to hear of Loyd's passing..so sad for us, but so glad for Loyd..so envious that he is with the Lord. God bless you all.

I was lucky enough to work with Prodigal. I've known them since the very start via Jon Phelps. What you hear and see is all true, they were fabulous writers and performers with purpose. I produced and engineered Just Like Real Life and the experience for me was wonderful. I miss Loyd, he was a true musical "genius" but he had incredible creativity visually as well. Thank you Prodigal for allowing me to be a small participant in your enormous talent and legacy. GP

I am seriously weeping, I hadn't realized he passed away recently he and Prodigal has meant so much to me over the years. I am still in a state of shock. I never met Loyd, but I felt like I knew him and you guys somewhat through your music. Prodigal lyrics always hit home and he will be missed! I am so sorry for your loss. Thanks for the music! I just wanted to let you know the music you guys put out in Prodigal has always meant a great deal to me growing up, and I still listen to them all the time, and now my kids enjoy them. You guys were special and great musicians and artists. I only regret not being able to see you guys live in the 80's, but from the talk of other fans who had the privilege it sounds like you guys were amazing live. Again, thanks for the great music and I would be honored if you guys would consider me a friend. I will post some pics of my Prodigal vinyl sometime I have taken great care with them over the years on Facebook. I would have ordered sooner had I known. Better later than never! Thanks and God Bless, Bob Freeman

One of my all time Fav. Bands. I worked at Teen Challenge years ago, we had a recording studio and I made a Commercial for a Prodigal concert in Lancaster Pa. I have the LP's which still sound great (I just bought a new turntable). Looking forward to the CD's from the Master Tapes. Loyd is much happier than we are at the moment. Hope you guys are still Playing. I am also a musician as well. God Bless!!

I received my CD set very fast after I ordered it and I have been listening to it everyday since. I also got a photo (#24) and appreciate it very much. My first introduction to Prodigal was with Just Like Real Life. The production value and lyrics were awesome and it still sounds great today! I've been wanting to find a way to thank all of the CCM artists from the 70's and 80's (like you guys) who sacrificed so much. Most didn't make a lot of money or receive a lot of fame but the lives you touched will be a blessing for all eternity. Thanks and I'm so glad to finally have your music on CD!

Just got my CD set AND bonus photo print (#28!). Thanks guys. I saw the band live in Kansas City on your Electric Eye tour and still remember it well. I've never stopped listening to your music, but it sounds even better on CD than my old, worn-out tapes and records. You're one of my all-time favorites. Thanks for sharing your talents and for your enduring ministry. God Bless you all and Loyd's family.
